The Workflow Viewer for COSbatch
is a module which allows users
and administrators to visualize the progress of job execution (workflow)
through COSbatch job suites.
In addition, it provides administrators with
the facilities to monitor, control and maintain COSbatch jobs and
suites. The ability to use each of those functions is regulated via
the usual OSM access control system.
The Workflow Viewer works with both the OSM
User Interface for Windows and the X Windows System GUI, and is available
for COSbatch v2.3 and above.
As the trend towards increasing
IT infrastructural capability continues in enterprises of all sizes, so
the number of background jobs increases and job suites become more complex.
The number of interdependencies between jobs grows faster still, and monitoring
the progress of large suites which can contain jobs that run on systems
dispersed across the network rapidly become a formidable task.
The COSbatch Workflow Viewer allows users
to:
display any selection of job suites that are
scheduled or in execution, without regard to the physical location of
the processors on which the jobs are specified to run
see the execution flow through a suite in
real time, with different colors indicating the changing status of jobs
– i.e. running, successfully completed, in error etc.
zoom in and out on any section of the suite,
with more detailed information being displayed as the number of visible
jobs decreases
control both individual suites and jobs
monitor the attributes of suites and jobs
maintain the attributes of suites and jobs
The COSbatch Workflow
Viewer has been tested to ensure compatibility with the leading versions
of UNIX, Linux and Windows, specifically:

Linux V2.2 and V2.4
