supporting effective remote working.
COSduty
In addition to having the
ability to handle enterprise-wide background processes, COSbatch
also incorporates some of the functionality of COSduty – a
component of the full OSM product COSduty-SSA – for scheduling
and controlling interactive jobs, namely those requiring human
interaction. The combined functionality (interactive and background) allows all types of process
across the enterprise to be managed from a single point on the
network.
COSduty enables IT managers to enforce best practice and
policy across all the enterprise's systems. Instead of the necessity
of assigning system administrators to perform many operations' tasks
using a privileged user account (such as 'root' on UNIX or Linux) –
with its implied security, audit and compliance risks – a facility is
provided to store common administration routines and allow them to be
re-run at any time via the Graphical User Interface common to all
OSM's products.
Once stored and encapsulated,
routines may be delegated as duties to operations (production) staff
to execute, with benefits in reduced cost, improved service levels,
full auditability, improved security, increased accountability and a
reduction in dependence on skilled individuals.
