Mitchell International
When Mitchell International Inc., the largest
provider of technical repair manuals for automobiles in America, were looking
for solutions to their print management needs, they chose COSprint,
the print spooler and print management software from OSM's COSMOS suite.
Trying to both operate a large data-center built around Digital's latest
UNIX systems and support the printing needs of their customers had become
an overwhelming task. Digital's own Polycenter products had some perceived
shortcomings in this area and, after the sale of Polycenter to Computer
Associates, Mitchell was looking for an alternative solution.
That solution was COSprint, one of the standalone modules from
the COSMOS integrated suite of systems management applications. COSprint
was able to automate and control Mitchell's busy printing environment with
minimum disruption during implementation.
The partnership did not stop there however. Mitchell found a number of
the other modules in the COSMOS suite were applicable to other critical
business requirements. As of this date Mitchell has implemented COSbatch
(the COSMOS batch job scheduler), COSduty (the Policy and Procedure
led duty scheduler for secure, automated, audited systems management) and
COSchargeback (the resource and accounting package) over their
entire enterprise. Mitchell continues to work closely with OSM to solve
other systems management problems.
